2023 Murfreesboro Tal Celebration

Time Control: G/60; d5

Registration: 7:30am to 8:25am

Rounds: Round 1 starts @ 9:00am, subsequent rounds start a.s.a.p., t.b.a. (includes a lunch break).

Titled Players: The first 3 pre-registered and confirmed Titled Players (NM +) will play for free, with $35 being deducted from any awarded prize(s) of $100 or more. For eligibility the players must send in an early entry fee, which will be reimbursed provided that the aforementioned requirements are met.

Entry Fee: $35 check, money order or $38 PayPal received by 11/08/2023, or else $45 cash only at site. Current Murfreesboro Club members receive $5 off of EF. US Chess membership is required. TCA membership is optional, but highly encouraged.

Prize Fund: $980 based on 35 players, or else proportional avoiding any losses, and adding to the prize fund if deemed possible.

Top (Open) Section (1600+): 1st $200, 2nd $100, 3rd $50, Expert Class $60, A Class $60, B Class and below $60 

Amateur Section (U1600 only): 1st $150, 2nd $75, 3rd $45, D Class $60, E Class and below $60, UNR $60

Bonus Prizes: One $30 Best Game Prize available for each Section, awarded for the best submitted game, and judged after the event.  More bonus prizes may be added on the day of the event.

Place & Class Prize Disclaimer: In order to maintain fairness, please note that prize winners are eligible for only the highest prize they qualify for. If a player's performance would result in them winning multiple prizes, they will receive the prize with the highest value. This ensures that all participants have an equal opportunity to win prizes.

Byes: Only one bye available per player for any round if requested from TD before round 1.

Organizational Discretion: The TD has the complete discretion to alter and/or combine the sections, and/or to alter the prize fund in any fashion before Round 1, including adding to it.
