A State Championship Event with Open and Scholastic Sections

Location: Jackson Preparatory School, 3100 Lakeland Dr, Flowood, MS 39232
Date: Saturday, June 15th
Check In: No later than 8:30 AM
The Mississippi G/60 Championship is an officially rated US Chess tournament.
US Chess membership is required and student membership is available at
uschess.org. Out of state players are welcome.
Entry Fee: $20 by June 14, $30 after.

All chess equipment will be provided.
All players are required to take manual notation using scoresheets. Scoresheets are
available at the tournament.
The Swiss System tournament will consist of five sections: Open, Reserve
(U1300), Amateur (U800), K-5, and K-3. All players are eligible to play in the
Open section. The Reserve section is open to players who have a USCF rating
under 1300 or are unrated. The Amateur section is open to players with an
established or provisional USCF rating under 800. The K-5 and K-3 sections are
scholastic sections based on the most recently finished grade and pre-K players are
welcome.
Schedule: 4 Rounds no elimination. All rounds will be played 60 minutes for each
player with a 5 second delay.

Saturday: 9:00 AM, 11:15 AM, 2:15 PM, 4:30 PM, may accelerate as possible.
Players will be allowed a minimum 10 minute rest break between rounds.
Awards Ceremony to follow last round or tiebreaks. Plaques or trophies will be
given for the top 3 finishers in each section.
One half-point bye only is available and must be requested before the start of the
tournament. No half-point byes available for round 4.
Tiebreaks: 1st place in any section, if tied, will be determined by two G/10 inc/5
quick games to be played after the end of the last round. In the event of a tie with
three or four players, a single round robin will be played. In the event of a tie from
the quick games, tied players will repeat the timebreak. Tie breaks for 2nd and 3rd
in any section, if necessary, will be determined using the following system(s): 1.
Modified Mean 2. Solkoff 3. Cumulative 4. Cumulative Opponent’s Score
