
2024 Teams World 4 Player Chess Championship Knockout Phase This Weekend!

Sixteen teams have been selected to play for the 15th edition of the World 4 Player Chess Championships (W4PCC)! Which team will claim the 5th Teams W4PCC Title?
Round 1 will feature sixteen teams who compete in a single-elimination bracket, starting this weekend! The winning team of each match plays Round 2 the following Saturday at the same start time in Universal Coordinated Time (UTC). Please see below for the finalized matchups.
Round 1 and Round 2 Format
The sixteen teams who qualified play a single-elimination knockout until four teams remain
Time control: 2+10
En Passant: On
Promotion: Knight, Bishop, Rook, Queen (Any); 11th Rank
Starting Position: Modern (New Standard, Omatamix) - Queens are left of the King
Matches are Best-Of-5 (If a team reaches 3, the other team is eliminated)
At 2.5-2.5, a winner is chosen from a tiebreak game. Upon another draw, the process is reiterative until Game 10 (including the first five games). If Game 10 is a draw, the last person who moved before the draw was declared will be on the team that advances.

Semi-Finals Format
Time control: 2+10
En Passant: On
Promotion: Knight, Bishop, Rook, Queen (Any); 11th Rank
Starting Position: Modern (New Standard, Omatamix) - Queens are left of the King
Matches are Best-Of-7 (If a team reaches 4, the other team is eliminated)
At 3.5-3.5, a winner is chosen from a tiebreak game. Upon another draw, the process is reiterative until Game 10 (including the first three games). If Game 10 is a draw, the last person who moved before the draw was declared will be on the team that advances to the Finals.
Finals
A $1,000 prize fund from chess.com is split among finalists:
1st - $300 each; 2nd - $200 each.
The tentative schedule for the finals is as follows:
November 16, 2024, at 18:00 UTC (Games 1-6)
November 17, 2024, at 18:00 UTC (Games 7-12)
November 23, 2024, at 18:00 UTC (Tiebreak Match Games 13-17, if necessary)
Finals Format

Matches are Best-Of-12 (If a team reaches 6.5, champions are declared)
At 6-6, a tiebreak Best-Of-5 Match. If Game 17 is a draw, the last person who moved before the draw was declared will be on the team that advances to the Finals.
After every Odd Number Game, teams Rematch.
After every Even Number Game, teammates swap colors.
In the event of a tiebreak, teams will start Game 13 on different colors than during Game 12. The blue and green team becomes red and yellow and vice-versa.
