2025 National Chess Day This Weekend! (USCF-rated)

National Chess Day is October 11, and the Utah Chess Association is celebrating with three tournaments in a two-day event! These include a scholastic tournament, a Swiss tournament, and quads! Games will be USCF-rated.

Day One (Oct 11):
Scholastic Trophy Tournament: Starts @ 9 am
Entry fee is $25 for a four-round tournament with three sections. Sections include: K-3, 6-9, 9-12. Games will be G/30; d/5, with a choice of a trophy for top-scoring players.

National Chess Day Swiss: Starts @ 9 am
Entry fee is $25 for a four-round tournament with two sections, the reserve section (U1700), and the premier section (1500+). Each game is g/45; +10, with prizes ranging from $125 - $75.

Day Two (Oct 12):
Quads!: Starts @ 12:50 pm
Entry fee is $20, and players will be paired in groups of four players with similar ratings, also known as a Quad. Each Quad will play in a three-round Round-Robin tournament format, where the winner of each quad wins $60.
