We continued our journey into chess learning with some puzzles and game analysis provided by Expert Will Brown.

Here are a few of the positions we studied.

Initially it looks like Bxe7 is the best.  But, a deeper analysis revealed a stronger move.

It looks like white is in a lot of trouble here.  But, with proper defense white actually comes out ahead.

Another good defense here and white is up at least a rook for a pawn.

I enjoyed all of these positions.  However, this was my favorite.  In this position white wins a Knight.  If black forgets that Queens can run laterally he will see a surprise checkmate.

We then had early 4th of July fireworks on the board with a 4 round SS G15/i10 tournament with 10 participants.  The medal winners were: Gold - Farnoo with a perfect 4/4 score; Silver - coolchessball on tie breaks with 3/4; and Bronze - chesscarrot also with 3/4.  The biggest upset of the day goes to KaranKavin winning with black with a 262 rating difference.
