The London System! New Match for < 1500 players

The London System was introduced in the London 1922 Tournament as a refutation to the newly minted hypermodernist theory.  Contemporaries often tout the London System as a "beginner's opening". While whole-heartedly true, the London System generates a following because it is a "system" rather than a litany of variations.

Still played in top level tournaments and a strong regular repertoire for Gata Kamsky. Labeling the system for "beginner's" is a misnomer and really is a broader reach to include those with limited study time and an opportunity to play familiar positions almost regardless of the defensive variations. In fact, the London system may be referred to as the "Old Man's opening" or even the "boring system". Even with all the pundits, Gata Kamsky often demonstrates why the London is a very good opening system!
