A Tribute to Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky (1995–2025)
The chess world is mourning the tragic and unexpected passing of Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky, a truly inspiring coach, educator, and popular streamer. Rest in peace, Danya.
While many of you know him from his brilliant and highly enjoyable YouTube content, our club has a deeper, personal connection to him.
Local Roots and Personal Memories
- The Burlingame Chess Club: Daniel and his brother were regulars at the Burlingame Chess Club when they were kids—the very same club I attended before it sadly closed down around 2005.
- A Tournament Game: I had the privilege of playing against Daniel when he was around 8 years old (rated USCF 1200 at the time) in a tournament game at the Burlingame Chess Club. He gave me a good fight, even at that young age! If I can find the game against him, I’ll share the game with you all.
- The Chess Diva TV Interview: When Daniel was just 12 years old, I had the pleasure of interviewing him on my chess TV show with my twin sister: http://chessdiva.show.tripod.com/Episode02.html. My TV show is outdated and we interviewed other amazing chess players.
Please take a moment to enjoy watching that interview with Danya:

It's a wonderful look back at the early career of an amazing player and person. I posted this video 17 years ago on YouTube!
