Admin Routine
Hello Lorenz.
This is what I wished I had been told as I first became admin:
1) Join all club leagues that may be of interest to the club. If the club is already participating in one or more competition in a league, then find the respective forums and follow each one of them in order to receive updates alert, by clicking on "Follow" in the lower right corner of the forum page. In some leagues, information is posted only on the forums.
2) Organize the schedule of matches of all leagues in which the club participates, in order to not forget the time to send and accept the challenges, as well as to know when the club can play friendly matches, something that should only occur when there is no sufficient league matches to meet the need of the club.
3) Check every day matches registration. Do your best to obtain even matchups in as many matches as possible. If team members are oft facing high rated players, many of then will stop signing up for new matches. When players' interest wanes, the club starts dying by inactivity.
4) Use all the ways to get in touch with team members and promote the matches: note on club page, news item and private message. Remember that many members disable notes and news. Also keep in mind that private messages may annoy some members.
5) Know very well the strength of your club. Whenever possible, participate in competitions or play friendly matches only against opponents at an equivalent level. As important as the number of players is the average rating. Also check out the latest opponents' matches to get an idea of how active their players are.
