Arena chess comes to PCS!
In addition to our open Swiss tournaments Thursdays at 7pm and our K-12 Swiss tournaments Fridays at 7:30pm, on Wednesdays we will now have open Arena tournaments from 3:40 – 4:40 starting on August 26.
What’s the difference, you ask? In our Swiss tournaments, (a) you have 10 minutes on your clock for each game, (b) everyone plays 3 games, (c) one round doesn’t start until all the games of the previous round have finished, and (d) you get 0.5 pts for each tie and 1 pt for each win.
In our Arena tournaments, (a) you have 15 minutes on your clock for each game; (b) as soon as you finish one game, you can request a game with another player as soon as s/he is available, (c) you can play as many games as you want in that hour, (d) you get 1 pt for a draw, 2 pts for winning 1 game in a row, 3 pts for winning a 2nd game in a row, and 4 pts for winning a 3rd/4th/etc game in a row, and (e) you can play as many games as you want, but the tournament will stop at 4:40. Let me know how you feel about Arena chess after trying it!
