Back on the Boards!

Spring break is over and while coming back to school may not have brought elation and exhilaration to most we are glad to see former opponents and new ones to challenge as we can get back to the business of battling it out on the 64 square checkered battlefield.  Actually there are more than 64 squares on the chess board.  Send your answer as to how many squares are on a chess board.

We have 10 new chess sets for Riverside H.S. One will be utilized in the cafeteria daily at lunch at the head table.  Now, it may not be as big as the ‘Big Chess Game’ set in the picture but they are a marked improvement over our previous sets.  We also have some additions to the ‘Chess Club Library’ in room V105. One is a book “How to Beat Your Dad at Chess” and a Speed Chess Video.  Oh yes, the exciting blitz chess championships semifinals with an exciting announcer filling in the details.

The New Rankings will be out this week.  Our Team match with the Idaho Spuds will begin once their team is ‘locked in’ we can start.
