I'm pretty sure you know what an Battery is, like A queen and a bishop, or a queen on top of a rook here's two:
The queen and rook on the files on both sides, that is a battery.
Now, what is an Alekhine's gun?
It's only with rooks and queen. So 2 rooks on the battery and a queen on the bottom:

Alekhine's gun is useful to fully gain control over a file, and is incredibly scary pointing at the king. Well, that concludes it for today. Have a nice day everybody!
