Bears in Europe part two
Thesanctuary is home to forteen adult brown bears, mostly rescued from the dancing bear trade and two orphaned cubs uncluding Ushka.Without this help, the sanctuary will be unable to accept any future cubs like Ushka.Born Free is usually associated with Lions-but the charity campaigns to end the confinement and exploitation of all wild animals for exploitation.Part of the money will also go to transpoting three female cubs from Georgia to the Greek sanctuary. The bears thought to be wild were found two months ago, starving and scavenging in rubbish piles. The sanctuary hopes to be able to take in more orphaned cubs after new compounds are built. The bears are fenced in-the sanctuary is open to the public-but unlike in a zoo,the animals have miles of woodland to roan around in.During her trip Mollie was lucky enough to spot two adult bears in the undergroath during a walk around. Both were former dancing bears.Seeing them in an environmentwhere they looked so relaxedafter going through so much torture was just amazing,Mollie says:"They are adorable but they are big bears. When they first got herethey were intimidated by humans. Now they are completely different. It has taken a long time for the workers to build up trust.
