Charlie and Ben duke it out in an impressive match

A game starting with the Queens Pawn: Zukertort, Chigorin. An early knight trade initiated by Ben occurs. After the knight trade Ben attacks Charlie's Knight with pawn pushes. Charlie manages to dance the knight out of the way of the pawns attacks. Once there are no more good attacks on the knight, Ben develops his own knight attacking Charlie's central pawn. Charlie guards the pawn with another central pawn push. Ben attacks Charlie's knight with another pawn push and Charlie makes an outpost for his knight on the e4 square. Ben moves his queen to attack Charlie's powerful knight. Instead of a knight trade where Charlie loses his central pawn Charlie initiates the trade instead. After quite a few more moves Ben threatens a checkmate while his rook was hanging but instead of getting greedy and snap taking the rook and losing he makes a luft for his king. After the threat was handled Charlie takes Ben's rook and ben castles to threaten the bishop that just captured his rook. Both sides push pawns on the queens side and a trade of dark squared bishops occurs. Material is +5 for Charlie from that rook capture earlier. Both sides still hold on to the most powerful piece, the Queen so a checkmate is still a very real threat. Charlie really wants a queen because he is up a rook and wants to convert it to an endgame. At the cost of damaging his pawn structure he forces a queen trade between the two titans. Multiple pawn trades occur making this a King rook bishop and 3 for Ben and a King, 2 Rooks, a Bishop, and 5 for Charlie. After quite a few moves Ben manages to pin Charlies rook to his bishop and Ben wins a rook so the endgame is now a Rook endgame but Charlie has 2 extra pawns. After quite a bit of shuffling and pawn stealing Ben is in a real time stress with less than 6 seconds and now he is down 4 pawns with his rook stuck guarding a pawn to make sure it does not promote. With 1 final Rook move from Charlie Ben runs out of time and loses the hard fought match. The match ended with an impressive CAPS score of 94.2% and Ben ended with an equally impressive 92.1% accuracy from Ben. Can't wait to watch more games from these two rising chess players in the National Checkers Club chess club.
