CHESS 960 WCL 2025 Round 1 vs SHEFFIELD

MATCH CANCELLED - sorry guys, but the level of interest in 960 Chess seems a tad low. Only four takers for this match. As Division 3 requires a minimum of 9 on the roster, WCL Admins and I have decided that it's probably wise to drop down to a lower league. New match info to be announced shortly.

The beginning of our 2025 campaign in the WCL Chess 960 tournament. Following our top of the table finish in Division 4B we won promotion to Division 3. On paper, more formidable opposition and bigger rosters - a minimum of nine per side this season, compared with rosters of at least five last year.

First up - Sheffield, the Steel City. Their membership of 140 plus includes 8 players with Chess 960 ratings of 1600+, so we can expect a tough opening challenge.
