The zoo where two chimpanzees died mysteriously in their cages has been accused of a cover up by the keeper who found them.The whistleblower said:"They were adament thr apes boiled to death in fifty degree temperatures caused by faulty heating at Twycross Zoo.But they said the zoo,famous for providing chimpanzees in the P.G. Tipps Television ads,decided tob hush up their deaths.We told on monday how Kip thirty nine and Jolly thirty two were discovered as keepers opened the chimpanzee enclosure in the morning.The zoo says post mortems were inconclusive.Our scource said:"It is general knowledge among zoo staff what really happened"."There was a problem with the underfloor heating which resulted in the temperature reaching over fifty degrees centigrade.They added that the zoos vet,who has since left,confirmed heat caused the deaths.A scource said:"The chimpanzees boiled in their own blood and died.The zoo chief said:"We will not be giving statements about the deaths in September.The zoo in Leicester,England,often issues a press release on Animals deaths.A spokesman denied this was routeen saying:"To suggest there is a cover up is inaccurate".She added:'Speculation a faulty heating system might have played a part in the deaths is unfounded".Twycross Chimpanzees starred in PG Tipps ads for forty years.Kip and Jolly were not among them.
