Clarification of Group Rules

Recent events have led me to believe that some clarification may be in order on this group's rules. :P *amendments in purple*

The note section is this group's DMZ:

so please no swearing (this is allowed in the forum, but in moderation) or debating in the notes - the line between "debating" and "discussing" will be drawn at direct disagreement and contension between members, and/or evidence being submitted to press a point - in either case, a new thread will be created for the debate.

No Spamming:

defined as irrelevant (to the path of discussion *completely unaccounted for in any sense*) and repetitive prose.

No Trolling:

defined as making deliberately vacuous, spiteful and/or abusive posts for emotional reaction.

Avoid Name Calling (and abuse in general):

*you are allowed to call arguments, theories, evidence etc. names - but not the members offering them - so "that's stupid" is allowed, but "you're stupid" will put you at the victim's discretion*

If somebody calls another debater names, is abusive to them, or creates unjustified ad hominem arguments, then their place in that particular thread will be left to the victim's discretion. The victim may have:

  • them made redundant in that particular thread (have any posts made by them in that thread (or on that topic) deleted).
  • that particular thread locked (unless a third party requests the topic to be reopened).
  • them banned, or put on temporary probation (have every post they make deleted until they apologise to the member). *this one's for extreme cases only*

My advice is to avoid being abusive or forming insulting ad hominem arguments, as it's really no way to debate.

This Group is Invite Only:

I feel that this system helps us to avoid spammers and/or trolls, but this may change in the future - if you'd like somebody to join, mention their name in the notes, and I'll send them an invite.

No you may not be an admin/super admin:

Asking this in the notes (especially if you've been a member for less than a day) may lead to you not even being a member here.

If anybody would like to discuss the group's rules then I'm pretty sure you can post messages on this page, if not, you can open a thread for it in the forum.
