Hey everyone, it's the fun and friendly club blog! I will be writing it today, and today's post actually originates from a blog post I wrote a few days ago. It will be a bullet chess guide.

First of all-what on earth is bullet chess?!

Basically, bullet chess is a time control where each player is given under 3 minutes in total, but no less than 10 seconds, sometimes with an increment of seconds. For example, each player might start with 1 minute each, and after each move made, 1 second would be added on to the time remaining.

Thanks for that! Anyway, I am new to bullet chess. What is the ideal time controls?

I am not really the person to say that, it's your preference. If you want a gamble, hit that 30 second button. However, in 30 second games, you will have not much time to think. Personally, I play 1I0 mainly, as well as 1I1 and occasionally 2I1. If I am ready to gamble, I will play 45 second games.

Great! I play rapid mainly, what is the best fit for me?

Same as the last time, I am not really the person to say that, it's your preference. However, if you are acclimatised to playing rapid, I would say 2I1, which is the longest popular bullet time control is best.

And if I play blitz mainly?

Try anything you want really, as you have to play quickly in blitz too, so you will have experience.

Wait...I have to WIN THE GAME IN 1 MINUTE?!!

Yes! Unless the only reason you play bullet is to time out people, you will get experienced to playing quickly, and checkmating. You might have seen your favourite streamers do it. The video below shows an example!

So should I play hyperbullet after I have experienced longer bullet time controls?

Go for it! That's what I do. Premoves are especially helpful in hyperbullet.

Thanks for tuning into today's blog. Would you like a blitz/rapid guide? Let me know in the comments!
