Club Newsletter: Jan 25'

Hi everyone! As we’re coming up to 2025, we wanted to update everyone on what’s happening in January. Though we won’t be meeting on New Year’s Day, we will be bringing back our monthly USCF-rated Quick Tournaments! Again, no casual meetup on 1/1/25. Happy New Year!!

Club Events:

- Weekly Casual Meetup: Bring a board or find an open seat for free, casual games of chess! Perfect for beginners and club players to play and practice.

• When: Every Friday from 7pm - 9pm*

- CCC Monthly Quick: Jan 25':

**UPDATED:** When: **1/31/25** @ 6:45pm Where: Kneader’s Bakery & Café @ City Creek Mall; Format: four-round Swiss System tournament; Time-control: G/10+2; Entry Fee: $5 for USCF section; (Free for Public section but has no prize).

- City Creek Chess vs SLC Chess Club (Friendly Team Match): On 1/21/25, two Salt Lake City chess clubs will be hosting a friendly team match on Chess.com, and you’re invited to join!

Utah Chess Association & Community:

- (1/3, 1/17, 1/31) SLC Chess Club: come out from 3pm - 6pm to The City Library in downtown SLC for some free casual chess. Chess sets are provided! More details: Link to SLC Chess Club  

- (1/11) Utah Speed Championship: a 7-round Double Swiss blitz tournament! Each round is at g/3+2 and you will be playing each round, once with white and once with black! More details: Link to UCA Speed Championship
