Corny Jokes from the SCCA Archives
From 1984 to 1999, the South Carolina Chess Association included corny chess jokes in its official newsletter. We repeat their mistake by including them here. From 1985 SCCA News, Vol. 20, No. 1.
Some Chess Content
A puzzle from a rapid over-the-board game at the Columbia Chess Club with both players in serious time trouble. Black to play and win.

Answer at the end of the newsletter.

Answer to puzzle: Black should stop the clock and claim an illegal move, as white has just played Kc4-d5. Under a rapid time control, black will be awarded a two-minute penalty. With white's king returning to the c4 square, the game is won for black, e.g.: 1. Kc3 Kxe3 2. Kc2 Ke2 3. Kc3 f5 4. gxh5 gxh5 5. Kd4 f4 6. Ke4 f3 promoting.

Actual gameplay continued: 1...hxg4 2. hxg4 f5 3. gxf5 gxf5 4. Ke6 ... leading to a draw and causing quite a commotion in the Club lounge.
