COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP 2024 OPEN LEAGUE DIVISION 2 ROUND 7
Round 7 opponents are Lancashire Lads and Lasses. Just three rounds remaining and TFS are in a very strong position; I am predicting 5 wins and 1 loss from our first 6 matches. We have an excellent chance of winning promotion to Division 1. It’s in our own hands. Three wins would clinch it and give us a shot at the Divisional title.
Our opponents have a long history in the tournament. They had a solid season in 2023 finishing mid table in Division 2 with 10 points (won 4, drew 2, lost 3) for 5th place; but that was their worst performance in 11 years in the competition, 7 of which were in the 1st Division. This year they are down in 7th place at present with 1 win (against Northern Knights) and two losses (Norfolk Knights and Somerset Wyvern). Are they on the slide? That really depends on whether they get out their strongest side; they are twice the size TFS with 102 members, 25 of whom are rated 1600+.
