County Championship Round Up
Your new Monthly Round Up of where the Club stands in the UK & Ireland County Championships.
County Championship 2022 Cup Final
Our battle for the title with Team Channel Islands is a real nail biter. We currently have a slim 14-12 advantage with 18 board games still in play. Most of these tussles are very tight. Take your time. Analyse and find the best move. Each half point is crucial.
County Championship Under 1600 2022 Division 3
It’s been a great come back season for the Under 1600’s. Two early losses, but undefeated since. Just one board match to finish against Bedfordshire-Northamptonshire and it looks a slam dunk for the Taysiders. We will finish in the top two and win promotion to Division 2; could even take the Division title if the other remaining match between the Northern Knights and Beds-Northants goes our way.
County Championship 2023 Division 3
A slow start in Round 1. We are on the wrong end of 4.5-9.5 score against Staffordshire. To pull this one out of the fire we will need all remaining 6 points on offer. A tough task. Round 2 has been much sweeter. An 8-2 winning lead against Cambridgeshire with just 4 board matches to complete. The crucial Round 3 match against Suffolk, who we dispatched comfortably last season starts on 7th February. Still time to sign up:

With 9 clubs in the Division this Season and 8 rounds of matches it’s going to be a tussle to finish in the top 3 and win promotion. We will probably need a 6-2 match record to be in a strong position. Derbyshire are the early pace setters winning their first two matches very comfortably.
County Championship 2023 Cup Round 3
Early days. We have a lead of 3-1, but with 15 players on each side there’s a long way to go. Could we have another long cup run this season?
County Championship 2023 Under 1600 and Under 1300 competitions will get underway in the Spring. Further information once the Division competitors and schedules are confirmed.
