It seems an age since our Round 2 dispatch of Cornwall, but here at last, our Round 3 opponents are Division 4 Oxfordshire. 'Oh, it will be a walkover, I hear you say. Hold your horses. They have just defeated Div 2 promotion chasers Hertfordshire 11-6! Hmmm.... So, I did some digging. Since their County Association took over the old Oxford team, they now have access to a much richer seam of chess talent. Against Herts, they fielded 3 1600+ rated players with an average roster rating of 1430. Hardly your typical Div 4 outfit. Herts didn't take them seriously - let's not make the same mistake.
