Telly bosses had to appologise after starving contestants on survival show The Island ate a protected crocodile.The male competitors had barely eaten for two weeks when they managed to hunt and kill what they thought was a calman,a common small crocodile.But after they gouged triumphantly on the calman,producers of the channel foul show grew worried when they saw it was bigger than normal.They soon discovered it was actually an American crocodile,which is classed as threatened and internationally protected fro hunting.They had no idea the species lived on the island off Panama,central America and immediately contacted authorities on the mainland.
