The Colorado Springs Chess Club was able to hold its 2021 annual meeting online.  The Nominating Committee selected Paul Anderson as President, Peter Barlay as Vice President, and Mark McGough as Treasurer.  In addition, the nice thing about the online meeting was that an automatic transcript was created, which I have included at the end of this email if anyone wants to see it.

Since the Colorado Springs Chess Club held its annual city Speed Chess Championship in January and the club is still closed, we have created the online edition for this Sunday:  The Blitz Bowl.  I am not sure when the Super Bowl ends, but, with the Arena format, you can join late and play as many 5-minute blitz games as you want.  The player to score the most points (from wins and streaks) will be our online city champ.

So, the LM Brian Wall email list is working!  It seems to take 24 hours to post a message, but it looks good most of the time.  We'll see how the images show up this time.

You can sign up for it here:

Brian showed up for our Sunday Night Chess and went unbeaten, gaining the most virtual gold medals and helping him pull into 3rd place on our Corona Chess Olympiad.

And, thanks to his email list, I got to see one of the cooler finishes from last Sunday's tournament.

IB8829:
Hi, all. I hope that everyone is doing well and that your 2021 is off to a good start. I just wanted to quickly go over our numbers regarding supporting memberships for 2020. In 2019, we had 12 supporting members, and in 2020 that shrunk to 6 supporting members, likely due to the closure of the club on-site thanks to the pandemic-related restrictions. There is some good news, though, for those who renewed their supporting memberships in 2020. The officers have decided to extend said supporting
memberships by one year, given that those members haven't been able to take advantage of the benefits of their memberships in 2020 due to the lack of over-the-board chess activity for the vast majority of of the year. Here's to hoping that 2021 will be a much more active year for over-the-board chess and that we will be able to return to playing chess in-person in the near future.
That pretty much sums it up for me.
