Daily Openings: Nimzowitsch Defense
The Nimzowitsch Defense, like the Alekhine's defense, develops a knight on the first move. 1.e4 Nc6 is probably because while developing a piece, controlling the center squares if you play 1. ...e5 but developing a piece. However, unlike Alekhines defense, it doesn't have a drawback since in the Alekhines defense white can play 2. e5. It was named after GM Aaron Nimzowitsch. It's similar to the opposite of the King's Indian Defense (1.d4 2.Nf6.)
