Desperate for a game?

If you are eager to play a game and can not find some one there is no need to be like the guy in the picture.  You can play against the computer (start with the lowest level 1st until you get the hang of it) or go to on-line chess and challenge a few opponents.  You can have 10 or 20 games going at once or even more if you feel bold.  The Live chess option is good if you know you will be able to devote a block of time to just that game.  If you get called away there is no way to pause or take a break from the clock.
