Poisoned adter Crufts:The pedigree dog allegedly murdered at Cruft,s was probably poisoned the day after he competed in the show,the vet investigating his death said yesterday.Irish setter Jagger collapsed and died the night after winninga silver medal in his class at the competition following his return to his co-owners home in Belgium.Distraught owners Willem and Aleksandra Lauwers were convinced he was fed toxins as he sat on the benchwaiting to perform at Crufts-the only time he was left unattended.But their family vet Dr Patrick Jans said Jagger fell ill so suddenly that it os more likely he ate the toxins shortly before he died.either on the way back from Crufts orn shortly before death.Speaking for the first time about the tragedy.the vet said:I doubt that it happened at Crufts.I think it,s inlikely because of the long time delay.I am surprised at everyone saying that this was the case.Organisers the Kennel Club are looking into a report that a second dog,a shih tzu,also died after Crufts.
