EAST TURKISTAN
43 UN member states, mostly Western countries, including the USA and Turkey, made a joint statement at the United Nations Third Committee Meeting held in New York, and declared China to be the re-education center of more than 1 million people in East Turkestan. It was criticized for the widespread and systematic violations of human rights it held in concentration camps, including torture, ill-treatment, inhuman and degrading punishment, forced sterilization, sexual violence and separation of children from their families.
