EIRC KNOCKOUT MASTERS FINAL

Following our excellent semi-final dispatch of Die Baden-Wurttemberger by a resounding 19 points to 5, Emilia-Romagna edged out Schachfreunde Sachsen in a tight contest 6-5 to 5.5 for the privilege of playing TFS in the Final.

Our Italian opponents are a strong club, but we defeated them in Round 5 of the EIRC Four Musketeers last year by 18.5 to 13.5 points https://www.chess.com/club/matches/team-emilia-romagna/1536507 The Italians are recruiting strongly to their roster and we need to ensure at least matching our opponents ratings on all boards.

This is a busy time of the season with the final rounds of both the County Championship and ECL Open Leagues playing out over the summer months. So, there is a little ‘fixture congestion’ and I appreciate that players want to manage their playing load (me included!) but I urge to make this match given the excellent chance we have of lifting a trophy.
