King & Rook vs King

from http://www.finitechess.com/end2.htm

Lone Rook Mate

This is an elementary mate and should be a natural sequence of moves.

  1. Use your Rook and King to force the opposing King to an edge row. To do this, think of your King as having a 3-square bulldozer and your Rook as a moving wall.
  2. Post your Rook on the next row.
  3. With your King on the third row, chase the opposing king until his move will put him in direct opposition (straight accross) with your king.
  4. When he moves in front of your King, mate with your Rook.

Black to move.

Black King on E8, White King on D2, White Rook on H1.
