Endgame tips
Introduction
Hey guys! So, in order to win a game of chess, you need a very good endgame, as that can determine your game. If you do very good for the beginning and middle game but do a very bad endgame, that could alter your course from winning to losing. So, I am here to give some tips on your endgame
Keep you pieces active
In your endgame, you do not only half of your army to participate. You would want your whole army to fight and bring you to victory. And it also will push all of your pieces to the max when using all of them
During that play, black was losing and it just got worse. Why? Because he only deployed half of his army.
Pawn Structure
With less pieces in the endgame, the structure really matters. So, you really want to avoid double pawns, isolated pawns, backwards pawns, etc. because those can be decisive factors for your game
King Activity
So, in the last blog, I mentioned that a pillar of chess is to get your king safe. Well, this is the only exception to that.
As you can see here, the black king did not even move at all. Thus he lost all of his pieces.
Your king has to be very active, as that has a huge importance for your endgame
Patience
There is an old saying. Patience is key. Well in this case, that is true. Slow but consistent play is the key for an endgame. If your opponent really needs an active counter play, try to improve your position to the best of your abilities before any moves are made.
Think before you exchange
Think before you exchange your pieces. Since there are reduced pieces than the middle or beginning game, it is more risky as that piece you traded could benefit you in the long run.
Schematic Thinking
In many, not all, but many endgames, it is very important to think in the terms of a plan. Pure calculation will not help you unless you think schematically.
