Enter the First $100 Cash Prize Chess Tournament!

Chess.com is testing out an idea - paid entry tournaments. Lots of people have asked about this, so we're deciding to give it a try and see what happens. Will people be interested? Will they play fair? Are they willing to pay to play? Below is our FIRST (and maybe last, depending on how it goes!?) paid tournament event!

$100 Prize Blitz Tournament (Under 1500)

EVENT: 9 round swiss blitz tournament, 3|2 time control. $10 buy-in, $100 in prizes

WHO: Limited to the first ten Chess.com members to sign up who are rated under 1500 in Blitz, have never been above 1600, have played more than 50 Blitz games, and with accounts created more than 30 days ago.

WHEN: December 29th, 2018, at 10am PT (5pm UTC)

PRIZES:
1st Place: $50
2nd Place: $30
3rd Place: $20

DETAILS: Players must have an established Chess.com blitz rating under 1500 with at least 50 games played. Prizes will be paid out via PayPal within 5 business days. Any player found to have violated the Chess.com Fair Play Policy will have their games in the event marked as losses, and their prize fill be forfeited and passed on to the other participants. By registering to play in the event, you agree to these terms.
