Face the Master #4: Simul with Two Masters on Sept 18
Dear Improvers,
We're thrilled to invite you to our fourth Improvers simultaneous exhibition, and this time we're making it extra special by bringing in not just one, but two masters to challenge our amazing community of players!
The event will take place on Thursday, September 18, at 11:30 a.m. ET / 17:30 CEST / 9:00 p.m. IST
This is a fantastic opportunity to test your skills, learn to play under pressure, and connect with fellow Improvers in a fun and competitive setting.
What's New This Time?
In response to your feedback and requests for more opportunities tailored to our higher-rated players, we're introducing a new format:
- GM Carlos Matamoros will be playing against five players who hold a rapid rating of 2000 or above.
- Meanwhile, NM Matthew Payne from the UK will take on ten players whose rapid ratings are under 2000.
Each master will be under a strict time limit—60 minutes total to complete all their games. Each participant will have 20 minutes on their own clock.
What Is A Simul?
In case you're new to the concept: a simul, or simultaneous exhibition, is a special format where a strong player competes against multiple opponents at the same time. In this event, GM Matamoros and NM Payne will be moving from board to board, making one move per game before proceeding to the next.
All games will be broadcast on our Events page, with a five-minute delay to ensure fairness and integrity for all participants.

How To Participate
This event is open to players of all skill levels, but spots are limited due to the nature of the format.
We will be selecting:
- Five players with a rapid rating of 2000+
- 10 players with a rapid rating under 2000
