Meet The Master
Ruben Mashal, also known online as "DukeNebur," is a national master and certified FIDE Instructor from Argentina.
He began coaching chess at 17 years old in Buenos Aires and, for nearly two decades, has developed a reputation for adapting his teaching style to each student's needs. Ruben believes chess is much more than memorizing openings. For him, it is a tool for developing logical thinking, decision-making, and critical analysis skills.
He has coached players of all levels: from beginners to those pursuing national or international titles.
In addition to coaching, Ruben writes courses and content for Chessable, including an English-language course on the King's Indian Defense with 6.h3, bringing his structured, idea-focused approach to a broader audience.
What Is A Simul?
In case you're new to the concept: a simul, or simultaneous exhibition, is a special format where a strong player competes against multiple opponents at the same time. In this event, NM Mashal will play on multiple boards, making one move per game before proceeding to the next. Mashal will have 45 minutes to complete all his games, while each challenger will have 20 minutes to complete their game. All games will be played with a 15-second increment.
All games will be broadcast on our Events page, with a five-minute delay to ensure fairness and integrity for all participants.
Why You Should Join
Participating in a simul like this is an exciting opportunity to play against a titled player in a unique, fast-paced environment. It's a fantastic way to:
- Put your preparation and tactics to the test
- Gain insights from playing against high-level opponents
- Enjoy the fun and energy of a community event
- And of course… earn some serious bragging rights if you manage to win or hold a draw!
