As you might already have heard of, this year, the FIDE Chess Olympiad is being held in

Chennai, India. There is a feverish, enthusiastic atmosphere as the city of Chennai has been given the appropriate chess tournament ambience. Pictures of 'Thambi', the knight-mascot of the olympiad, can be seen arranged all over the city and the Napier Bridge has been lighted up in the design of a chessboard.

The hosts, India, have been playing extraordinarily and obtained a huge win streak. Unfortunately, yesterday, D. Gukesh lost his first match in the tournament to Uzbekistan's Nodirbek Abdusattorov, due to an unfortunate blunder in a five-hour encounter.

Praggnanandha, on the other hand, defeated Sindarov in a nail-biting battle, and Vidit Gujarathi ended a streak of seven draws when he beat Amin Tabatabaei, from Iran.

The question remains whether the hosts, India, can bag the first position in the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad. If you are an avid lover and a chess enthusiast, keep following chess olympiad news to remain up-to-date.
