First OTB Tournament In A While

Hello MNMS club members!

It's been a while, not just for news and club activity, but tournaments in particular. Hopefully everyone is doing well and enjoying the winter.

After a long break, we are going back to running tournaments, and our first one will be in-person! That's right, you have a chance to actually see your opponent, touch the real chess pieces, shake hands with your opponents, and win real non digital trophies and medals!

Our tournament will be on Friday February 3rd, 6:00 PM.

Other Important Info

This is a USCF rated event, so you need to have or to get a USCF membership. It's a part of the registration. Please, let us know if you have any problems registering. 

Here is a little info on how the tournament format works. All players will each be divided into quads (groups of 4) based on their ratings (from highest to lowest), so all players should be playing in a group roughly of their level. This is a round robin event (it is an event where basically all players in their group play each other) with 3 rounds. Rounds will start as soon as all games in a quad ends.

There is room for only 40 players, so register on time!

On the day of the tournament (if you are playing in the event), please come around 10 or so minutes before the event starts to go through the check in.

Lastly, masks are not required.
