HALLOWEEN CHESS IN CORPUS!
First and foremost Happy Halloween! Unfortunately, I am late in posting about this tournament. It happened this past weekend and had what I would consider a record turnout. With over 100 players showing up! Players of all rating, skill levels and ages. Age groups ranged between 5 and I believe 65? (Rocky Bloom can you confirm your age please). Some of our own CCCC players played and did quite well in the tournament. Rocky Bloom placed 1st in the senior division with 4 wins and 1 loss; lets go Rock! Sebestian Boltz showed up and got 3 losses and 1 win placing 8th overall. Thank you for supporting the community. Thank you both for your service as well. LeoStix won first in the high school section with 5 wins. Way to go! Special thanks to Johan Fjeld with Chess Core for all he does. He teaches chess, he host tournaments for chess, assembles and supplies the trophies, he plays chess in his sleep. He is the King of Corpus not because of his chess skill, or because like Rocky Bloom he is old cannot move well.. but because when we lose him, we lose the Corpus Christi Chess Community. Thank you to everyone who showed up. Below are the tournament results and a copy of the tournament flier.
