I Feel the Need - the Need for Speed...Chess (and more boards!)
Highway to the Danger Levels
What's up, Prospect Park Chess Club members! As usual, this is yaboi ZDogPharizle with some updates from the past couple of weeks of fun around the Club. Let's kick it off:
The International Chess Day Tournament was a HUGE Success!
First off, big props go out to the folks who helped organize and run the tournament. I, myself, simply partook in the fun and did absolutely nothing except provide fodder for my very talented Chess Club compatriots. Rommel acted as the Tournament Director, and despite his doctor-recommended, medicinally-induced drug haze, he did a fantastic job running the show. Mitch crafted the coveted Golden Bunny 1st Place trophy (and also the Blue Bunny, the trophy that was awarded to the last-placed finisher). Thanks also go to the bar, HasenStüble, which covered the tab of the tournament champion. We hope to throw similar tournaments with semi-regularity in the near future! Check out our Champion, Alex, posing with his well-earned Golden Bunny, as well as some other pics from the tournament:

We're Still the Same 'Ole Prospect Park Chess Club - Just Getting Bigger
We retuned to our usual Open Chess format last Wednesday, and the turnout was astounding, once again! Thank you so much to everyone for coming out and making it a great atmosphere week after week.
In case you haven't noticed, or if you're one of the new joiners, the Prospect Park Chess Club has been growing like crazy over the past couple of months. In fact, we are starting to hit out maximum number of concurrent games we can play based on the number of boards that our current members are bringing. We're hoping y'all can help us address this in a couple of ways:
- If you have a board and/or a clock already, please bring it along (if it's portable and durable - please don't bring your Grandfather's nice wooden chess set, and then spill German beer on it!). If you don't have a chess set yet, now's a great time for you to pick up a basic vinyl or silicone chess board, some plastic pieces, and a clock that you'd like to smack a lot. Check out one of your local Chess shops, and then come break in your new set at HasenStüble!
- The PPCC will start taking in optional donations from our members. These donations will be put towards things like additional chess sets, setting up future tournaments, and more weekend Club Outings like the Candidates Cookout! If you have any questions, talk to Rommel.
