Greetings,
John Brezina sent me this message:
Hey Paul,
I wanted to share an email I recently received from the ICC playgroup about their launch party taking place this weekend and thought you'd like to share it with your club. Some of you old timers may remember the ICC platform from years ago. And you younger players may only know of Chess.com today. But ICC was the pioneer of online play and they are re-launching their website and platform. I highly recommend checking out their site and giving them a try. We can never get enough chess it seems and this is another great opportunity to play and learn. Here is the email:
As the pioneer of online chess, ICC is thrilled to invite you to take part in the launch party for the ALL NEW ICC site starting this Sunday, September 1 at 3PM ET. Go to
playnew.chessclub.com, log in with your existing ICC account or register a new account for free, and be one of the first to experience and play bullet, blitz, and rapid on ICC’s NEW PLAYZONE. ICC looks forward to introducing new and innovative experiences for you and the entire chess community.
Here is the ICC website to check out before their launch party this Sunday:
Regards,
John Brezina

Earle Wikle sent me a nominee from his Monday, Quick-rated, IHOP tournaments for the 2024 Burden Award. This award goes to chess players who drop their Queen but refuse to resign and come back to win. LM Brian Wall started the award in 2005, and it could be celebrating its 20th anniversary if we can find a winner for 2023 and 2024. So, if you have a game where you drop your Queen and still won, send it along and you too could be immortalized in the list of winners:

This would be Earle's first time winning the award.
