Improvers: Sign up for the 2026 Daily Chess Championship!
Dear Improvers,
We are excited to share our upcoming Daily Chess Championship with this amazing community. This coming New Year, you have a chance to be part of history, as we aim to break 50,000 participants!
Daily Chess is one of the most convenient and effective ways to improve because it fits naturally into your day: make a move when you have time, think deeply, and come back refreshed later. There’s no clock pressure, which means better calculation, stronger plans, and more learning from every position.
It’s also great for our community. Daily Chess encourages discussion, reflection, and steady progress, making it perfect for players who want to improve together while balancing school, work, or other commitments.
How does it work?
- Format: Daily Chess
- Time control: 1 move per day
- Participants play 22 games at once in 12-player sections (one as Black, one as White per opponent), aka a 12-player double round-robin.
- Only the section winner(s) advance(s) to the next round.
- It's expected that the tournament will run for most of 2026, ending late in the year or early in 2027.
- Fair play analysis will take place, with all section winners subject to careful review.
- Who it’s for: Any and all players on Chess.com, including YOU, a fellow Improver!
Prizes
This year's Daily Chess Championship will feature $5,000 in cash prizes. Prizes will be awarded in each round for different categories: the best video analysis, blogs, games, and moves. A list of prizes, along with the explanations, is listed on the event page.
