Is the Chess.com rating system unfair?
I think it is, as when you start your Chess.com account, you can get up to 200 points for winning, or you could lose 200 points for losing. But as you play more games, the rating you get or lose decreases each game. I am going to show you an example of why this is unfair.
Here is my Daily rating stats:
My first daily game ever was a win, but as it went so drastically high, I still haven't been able to catch it up, and it is my highest rating. When I started Chess.com, I was a begginer. Naturally, I lost lots of games, and you can see that in August 2019, I had my lowest point of about 600 points. But as I had played lots of games at that point, when I started winning more games than losing, I only got about 10 points for each win. This meant that I had played about 50 games to get to my lowest point, and the next 800 games were spent trying to get my rating back up. You can see just how obvious this problem is by looking at ther very first spike and drop, and then look at all the tiny little bumps slowly going up from March 2020 to now. Those are the 800 games I had to play try get back up. And I am still not back at my highest rating. Another possible problem could be that somebody creates an account, win a few chess games on time, and find themselves on 1500, even though they are a begginer, Then, when they start losing games due to playing high people and they are a begginer, their rating stays high as they only lose 10 points per game on average. This will lead to them hardly winning any games as the people they are playing are too high for them.
