KPOP Female Group of the Month #14
WEEEKLY (위클리) is a seven-member girl group under IST Entertainment, consisting of Lee Soojin, Shin Jiyoon, Monday, Park Soeun, Lee Jaehee, Jihan, and Zoa. Formerly known as PlayM Girls and FAVE Girls, Weeekly debuted on June 30, 2020, with their debut album ‘We Are’ and title track Tag Me (@Me), making them Play M Entertainment's second girl group in 10 years, after Apink.
Soojin (20) is the group leader, Jiyoon (20) rap/vocals, Monday (19) the main vocalist, Soeun (19) the main dancer, Jaehee (17) rap/vocals, Jihan (17) lead vocalist, and Zoa (16) the maknae rapper.
In their debut year, Weeekly won multiple Best New Female Artist awards, including the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards. Then in 2021, their popularity skyrocketed with the single After School, which received over 100 million plays on both YouTube and Spotify, and was nominated for Best K-Pop Song at the 19th Korean Music Awards.
