Last Week's Report

Hello dear members,

last week was (or should have been) a very busy one. There was a Friendly Classic Match, an Official Rapid Tournament of three matches, a couple of Multi-Club Arenas and our Weekly Tournaments. Nine (9) events in total!!! "Not Bad at all" someone might have said..

However, there was a poor participation on all of them!!? It was expected that most of our Intra-Club events would be auto-cancelled (if not all of them.. as it happened), and that not enough of our members would take place in Multi-club arenas. Also, it doesn't matter we didn't fill many boards in the Classic Friendly.

But when it comes to Preseason Tournament, an Official Event, THAT was quite an embarrassment, since our Club has shown a not-so-good image to the organiser. Needless to say that this fact, also resulted in loss of points for our team, since we didn't complete the min. of 5 boards per match, and lost 2 points for every empty board.

I'll say it again, that Official Matches are the events we need your attendance the most (especially of our strongest players), so that our.. your Club, WoLC, gets worthily represented!

For that reason, as from this week, I strongly suggest that even if you don't have enough time reading all of our Forum threads, News, Notes etc. please visit our club, every now and then, and when you do, just have a look within the "Upcoming Events" section, searching for events starting with the icon below:

This Icon means there is a Club Match arranged. Then, please check it's date & time, and read every match's title and when you don't see the "Friendly" word in any of those, that means it's an Official Match!

Besides the above, last week had it's bright moments too!

We've managed to win an official game, finishing the Preseason Tournament in forth (4th) place, soooo close of coming in third!

Also, thanks to @jelaw42 & @KostasMouridis for competing in 1WL B-Day M/C Arena, collecting 53 points for our club in total, finishing on the 23rd place out of 50 clubs participation.

Looking into the future, as from this week, we'll have the chance to vote in here (within the relevant forum thread) regarding various aspects of our Intra-Club events, we'll create a special Forum thread for discussion on "reasons why members don't attend events and what would make them do otherwise", our first Voting Chess game will start, and we'll announce a possible entry of our club in a new official live championship which is expected to be fairer, in terms of opponents' Elo difference!

More details will come shortly, related to that new Live Championship, so be aware of our upcoming news!

There is a friendly match starting shortly, so I guess that's enough up to now.
