Li Aipa defeated Fiji's national champion 2-0 in the Round 7 match for the World Online Team 2020-21.  Check out his beautiful games at the link above.

Other players had mixed results, some of us posted disappointing losses on the way to a very close team loss, 9.5 - 10.5.  Saddest of all was that Manix, playing his first match for Team Kauai, won a upset victory against Fijian_Grandmaster in 8 moves by setting a devious trap in the Budapest Gambit, offering what looked like a free bishop.  (Can you spot the best move after 8. axb4??).  After the miniature win, Manix went to look at other games to see how his team-mates were doing, not realizing that his second game had started automatically.  He forfeited that game on time without a single move.  Note to the coach: Don't forget to tell this to new players next time!

This was the largest team that Kauai has assembled for an international match so far - 10 players!  Fiji feels like a very close opponent to Kauai, and we look forward to friendly matches with them in the future.  Here are the names of their ten players:  1. CM Taione Sikivou (Fiji National Champion), 2. Avinesh Nadan, 3. Noel Adricula, 4. Prashil Prakash, 5. Rudr Prasad, 6. Goru Arvind, 7. Mukesh Paranthanman, 8. Ravikesh Prasad, 9. Ryan Bale, and 10. Ashwin Singh.

There are only three rounds remaining in the 2020-21 World Online Team Championship.
