Live in Rosenheim
yes, last Thursday I was in Rosenheim at the little open air they had. Support for UH was THE SWEET. Some may remember their great days, Ballroom Blitz, Teenage Rampage, Blockbuster, Love is like Oxygene...Well, they got a right to retire. Only Andy Scott left from their good days, they have no singer who could put up with good old Brian Conolly, who died decades ago. So it turned out to be a medium cover-band of the sweet, not too exciting, but good to get warmed up. While the band was playing we could see Phil and Russell watching from the right side of the stage. I called Russell and gave him greetings, he immediately waved back with his hand holding a bottle.
The sweet finished their performance and they started to rig up UH equipment. Also the rain started and we got some greetings by Ritchie Blackmore - so to speak - 2 nice Rainbows appeared at the sky...
When UH entered the stage, I got shocked by a singer I did not know! Stefan Berggren did the vocals, cos Bernie could not perform due to a sickness.
Starting out with GYPSY we had still a great time, all UH artists just played brillant and even Stefan showed his great voice could be a UH voice if Bernie wouldn`t be such a great singer himself... He had his times of uncertainties with the lyrics and often had to look at his tablet in front of him, but he did a very good job indeed! Also the rain stopped after a while and wouldn`t come back again!
Dave, Phil and Mick really are a class of their own, everybody having fun and enjoying together with 7000 enthusiastic people. They played about 90 minutes until some minutes past 10:00, I guess they had to stop cos of city-regulations, this park is in the center of Rosenheim...
Well, I could just do this all over again... Hope for Bernie getting well and maybe we can go for another concert not too far away...
And yes, of course Mick mamaged to throw me another plektron for my collection - 5 from Mick now and one from good old Trevor.
Anyone in doubt about present UH, see them! They play at top-level!
