March SCL Signups Are Now Open
Signups are now open for our March League Qualifier and Tournament Series to begin on Monday, March 4, 2019.
New players for our Chess.com tournaments must begin by signing up for our League Qualifier tournament. To be eligible for the League Qualifier you must have been a Chess.com member for more than 30 days and must have a minimum of 20 Rapid rated live games played on Chess.com against at least 10 different opponents. The easiest way to accumulate the needed games is to join G/15+10 or G/30+0 live tournaments on the Chess.com live server. You must successfully complete the tournament by following the rules. You do not need to win any games, but must follow the rules, complete all the rounds, and play at least one game.
Swiss Tournaments
New players can sign up for our 3 round League Qualifier for Chess.com players. You must be a member of the Dan Heisman Learning Center to be included. Then go to slowchessleague.org and register to get started. You don’t have to win a game to qualify. Just follow the rules and complete the tournament.
Qualified league players can choose from:
SCL Fair Play - 4 Rounds in March
1-2 Swiss G/45+45 for Chess.com - 1 or 2 games per week
1-2 Swiss G/90+30 for Chess.com - 1 game per week
New in March - Team Play - We are offering optional team play in our primary G/45+45 section. You may choose individual only or team/individual play. If you opt for team play, you may choose one of the teams offered or allow the TD to assign your team. The top 5 board scores will count for your team each round. Team players also compete as individuals.
Also New in March - New Feature Test - Weekend Preferred Option for G/90+30 play. You may sign up for 1 Game per Week, or you may sign up for 1 Game per Week with Weekends Preferred. Our pairing system will try to pair those who prefer weekends with each other each round (but such pairings are not guaranteed). Weekends will be defined as Friday at 18:00 LT/NY until Sunday at 18:00 LT/NY each week. Those who sign up for Weekends Preferred must include at least 2 offers on the weekends for their minimums. Failing that will result in a forfeit. A player who chooses Weekends Preferred but schedules a game outside of defined weekend hours may opt for G/45+45 timing by announcing it when accepting or offering the time. This change in time control is then binding on the opponent.
