Middlegame Tactic: Pawn Storms!
Hey guys! Sorry for the delay of chess lessons but here we are! So, let's talk about pawn storms! I know some of you underestimate the power of pawns. Why? Because beginners think that pawns are just for these reasons:
- Allowing development
- And controlling the center
These things are crucial, but most players missed that they can also be used for attacking. But remember, if you are going to attack, you must meet these conditions:
- You must have a plan
- Pieces/Pawns must have a clear way
- Lastly, your king must be safe (most important)
Pawn storms are very aggressive ways to attack your opponent by throwing pawns at your opponent's king/queenside. They are used for flanks and opening up lines! But make sure you have these conditions:
- You have to castle opposite from which side you want to attack
- Opposite-side castling
- Have pieces behind your pawns in the most effective way possible
