Mind-blaster players at US Amateur Team East Tournament

North-country team "Play Like A. Giri!" participated in the under 1600 section of the 2017 US Amateur Team East tournament in Parsippany, NJ. This is their 5th year participating in USATE. 1298 players participated in this years event.

The team consisted of Peter Craig of Keene (ADKPeter), John Sheatsley of Webster, S. Warren Lohr of Onchiota, and David Craig of Keene (DavidOrDave). "Play Like A. Giri!" took second-place with 3 1/2 points, loosing out to team "Algonquin Room Massacre" having a 4-2 score.

Still, Team "Play Like A. Giri!" members were pleased with their results, as team members individually took 3 1/2 points each. The team was mentioned in on-line coverage as having one of the best team names.

The team entered the third day round-5 game with 1 1/2 points, desperately needing two wins for the day. Paired down against a formidable group of youngsters (board 4 was 7 years old!), the team won a point for the round. Paired-up in round 6, the team figured it was all over. Instead, the team garnered three wins, culminating an exciting win by Peter Craig (ADKPeter, 1906) against a 2350 rated player! The game is posted below:
