In a gripping showdown, @Moekillz aka the Dominican assassin , wielding the white pieces, faced off against @Doctordion,
who commanded the black army. Fresh off a victory with the black pieces in their first encounter, Moekillz entered this rematch with confidence—and delivered a performance that left spectators buzzing.
Rated at 1344, Moekillz brought a sharp tactical edge to the board against Doctordion, whose 1003 rating belied a resilient fighting spirit. The game, played under a leisurely 1-move-per-day time control, allowed both players ample time to weave their strategies. What ensued was a rollercoaster of aggression, sacrifice, and a checkmate finish that will be remembered as a highlight of the tournament’s early rounds.
The opening moves set the stage for a classic Italian Game, with Moekillz’s 1. e4 met by Doctordion’s 1…e5. After 2. Nf3 Nc6 and 3. Bc4 Nf6, the game took a sharp turn with 4. d4 exd4, signaling Moekillz’s intent to seize the center.
Doctordion responded boldly with 5…Ne4, thrusting a knight deep into enemy territory, but Moekillz’s 6. O-O and 7. Re1 kept the pressure on.
The fireworks truly began on move 7 when Doctordion unleashed 7…Nxf2, a daring sacrifice aimed at shattering Moe’s kingside. Moekillz, unfazed, captured with 8. Kxf2, only for Dion to strike again with 8…d3+, forcing the Moe to play king to 9. Kf1. The pawn on c2 fell next, but Moekillz calmly reclaimed it with 10. Qxc2,
stabilizing the position while Doctordion castled kingside.
What followed was a masterstroke from Moekillz. With 11. Ng5, Moe targeted the f7-square, a classic weak point in Black’s setup. Doctordion’s 11…g6 did little to deter the onslaught, as 12. Bxf7+ ripped open Black’s defenses.
The black king fled to h8, but Moekillz’s 13. Qxc5 snatched a key bishop, and the material advantage began to snowball.

Doctordion fought back with 13…d6 and 14…Qf6+, but Moekillz’s king danced to safety on g1. The pawn on d6 fell, and the Dominican assassin ‘s pieces swarmed. By move 17, Be3 pinned down the good doctor’s knight on d4, and after a swift exchange, Moekillz delivered the final blow: 19. Bxf6#. Checkmate
. Doctordion’s king, hemmed in by its own pieces, had nowhere to run.
