The unfortunate incident
GM Daniel Naroditsky (Danya), some might know him as the GM he wass, some might know him as the under 12 world champion, some might as a friend or family member, but most people: the popular streamer and commentator he was. But, on October 19, 2025, everything changed. It just seemed like a normal day, at least that is what everyone thought. But, GM Olexandr Bortnyk, a very close friend of Danya, came over to his house. Bortnyk knocked on the door, no reply. He heard the T.V. playing in the background and saw the lights on, so he got worried. Sensing something was wrong, Bortnyk forced himself into Danya's house, only to find him just lying on his couch dead. "I found him dead," said Bortnyk. But, the reason of death hasn't been reported yet.
Daniel's life and accomplishments Growing up, Naroditsky was a chess prodigy. He won the under 12 world championships, and got the GM title at the age of 18 (the highest title, besides world champion.) He was a Stanford graduate. Before his death, he consistently stayed in the top 200 of the world. Danya had many accomplishments in his life, and he was a talented chess player.
My connections with Danya I am very happy and grateful for had gotten the opportunity to meet this legend in-person at the 125th US Open. I, very happily have got his autograph, and it was an honor. It is just so sad that no one else will be able to get this moment.
RIP Legend Naroditsky didn't die without impacting the world; more so the opposite. He has impacted the world, mainly the chess community and was an idol for many youngsters. It is so sad, the legend died at just the young age of 29. I sincerely apologize to all of Danya's friends and family, but, it is important to remember, people die everyday. Daniel Naroditsky was a great person, and may his soul RIP.
